A referral that produces a good repeat customer is different from a name sent
to five detailers for the lowest quote. Treating them the same can turn a
simple thank-you into an expensive program that attracts the wrong work.
How do referrals work in your business now?
- Do you reward the existing customer, the new customer, both, or neither?
- Is the reward cash, credit, an add-on, or just a personal thank-you?
- Does it happen when the job books or after it is completed and paid?
- How do you track who referred whom?
- What stopped abuse or confusion?
Numbers help. If a $25 credit consistently produces a certain kind of job, say
that. If formal rewards performed worse than simply doing good work and asking,
that is useful too.
